Intercultural Competence Workshop

Everyone has differences with each other but at the same time we also have many things in common. There are probably even more noticeable differences between people from different countries, because of different languages, values and ways of dealing with people. These could sometimes lead to confusion, annoyance or even conflict.

Only when you discover yourself by reflecting and empathize others, you can change your perspectives, and have a constructive relationship with people from other cultures. In the end, synergy and more learning will be sparked. Diversity is not for nothing!

Learning goals:

  • Become open to other cultures, recognize its values, norms and the behavioral patterns
  • Distinguish between the cultural and individual differences, reduce stereotype  
  • Learn skills to achieve a better understanding and collaboration

Learning content and methods:

  • Key intercultural concepts, theories
  • Assessment of IC, self reflect
  • Patterns of some cultures, e.g., China, Germany
  • Skills such as active listening, communicate empathetically  
  • Cases and critical incidents sharing
  • Group work and practices
